The Cover Letter sells your manuscript -- it might be the only thing that gets read -- the managing editor might decide whether or not to read your manuscript, based on your cover letter. How should your write your cover letter?
- Include the Editor-in-Chief's name (get from the journal website)
- Be sure to give your manuscript title and the journal you are submitting to
- Note any conflicts of interest (or declare that the authors have no COI)
- Include corresponding author's email
These 2 sentences should be in all cover letters:
- We confirm that this manuscript has not been published elsewhere and is not under consideration by another journal.
- All authors have approved the manuscript and agree with its submission to [insert the name of the target journal].
